Teacher's Note: Hannah went "poo-poo" in the pottie today! We gave her a sticker and she was very proud of herself "

I feel it's only necessary to now inform you of what she ate today. It probably would be more beneficial for us to write about what she ate yesterday. Anyway, here it goes for today's meals. Breakfast: Cinnamon Toast and Milk (all). Snack: Goldfish and Water (all). Lunch: Chicken and Rice (some), Peas (none), Fruit Cocktail (all), Bread with Butter (all), and Milk (all). Snack: Square Cheese Crackers and Water (all).

The only other thing I can think of to torture you furthur is a picture but I just don't have one. Maybe I'll leave special instructions for the teachers to snap a photo of the event. Who knew we would be so proud of a "poo-poo"?!

Field Trip

Hannah has her FIRST field trip at school! This "field trip" is in the church gym that she plays in almost everyday so we got a kick out of that. They are calling it Reindeer Bootcamp and the details are a mystery. Stay tuned for more information.....

Tom, Hannah and I met at a restaurant for dinner last night after work and daycare. Hannah walked up with Daddy and climbed up into the booth. When we had all sat down, gotten our jackets and things in order is when she "made the move". She grabbed each one of our hand on each side of hers, clossed her eyes, bowed her head, then mumbled her adorable baby talk, then said "ah-mha". She looked up smiling gloriously and clapping her hands. My heart smiled. She is picking up on so many things that we do in our everyday life. Precious, precious, precious!

Obsession with shoes

Hannah has an obsession with shoes. Anyone's shoe, any size, anywhere, anytime, she loves them! No matter where we hide them, she'll seak them out. She puts on my shoes, daddy's shoes, puts Tom's shoes on him, puts my shoes on me, puts Tom's shoes on me, and my shoes on Tom. Even after a hard day's work, when you can't wait to finally set your poor feet free and you kick off our shoes, she'll bring 'em right back to you and your swollen feet and say "mommy shus....mommy shus on!". Well she also apparantly takes them off whenever she wants too as well. I picked up Hannah today at school and she had these old beaten up, second hand shoes on her feet. I asked her teacher what happened and she explained that Hannah won't keep her shoes on. At first they tried time out and that didn't seem to be keeping her shoes on so they tried a "special" pair of shoes for her. Well it worked! Hannah likes old, used, "special" shoes instead of the one's we bought her. Oh well, at least she's not barefoot anymore!

A first at school

Hannah went tee-tee in the potty today at school!!!!! Her teacher said that she touched her diaper and said "tee-tee". Her teacher then put her on the little toddler potty and she went tinkle. Yay Hannah! What a big girl!

This afternoon, Hannah started playing with one of the lamps on our end tables in the den. She started to shake it so I said "No Hannah, don't touch the lamp please!" in my stern, serious voice. Hannah acknowledged the command by looking up at me, smiling, and making full eye contact with me. She then takes her baby doll's hand and proceeds to make the doll touch the lamp with the hard plastic hand of the doll all the while making guilty eyes at me with a devilish half grin all over her face.

Mommy confusion

Tonight, the 3 of us were eating dinner at the table. I said "Baby, do you like your strawberries?" Hannah replied with "Hannah not baby." My mouth dropped to the floor and my eyes popped out of their sockets, I said "What?". She repeated herself with "Hannah not baby." A confused and painful look came over my face, but I didn't let her see it. Then...

"Hannah are you a baby?"

"No" ( very matter of factly)

"Well then are you a big girl?"

"Hannah big girl" (she said with a big smile)

Today, my baby told me she wasn't a baby anymore. My "little girl" is showing her independence. Mommy's question....is this up for more discussion?

Hannah is 2 years old!!!!!

On Friday, October 2, 2009 at 5:31 pm, Hannah was officially a 2 year old! That morning, we got her out of bed and started singing the Happy Birthday song to her. When she busted out in tears and wails, we stopped. She didn't like that but got over it very quickly, with some tickles, she was giggling again. I took some pics of her before school in her cute birthday outfit, equipped with birthday bracelet, clips, shirt, and stretch pants. For lunch at school, we brought cookies for all the kids in her class and they sang 'Happy Birthday' to her. Later that night, we celebrated by having Rob, Candice, Maddie, Chip, Stacey, Brooke, and Jocelyn over to celebrate with pizza (Hannah's fav) and birthday cake. It was a wonderful day! She wouldn't let her hairstylist get the cape near her, she was squirmy until Pablo and the rest of the Backyardigans were playing on the TV in front of her, she hated the blow dryer but loved her sucker! In the end, her hair looks adorable! We have a braid of her clipped, 2 year old hair that equals 5 inches!!!!! No joke! Check out the before, during, and after first haircut pics...

Pancakes with Parents

This morning, Hannah's school hosted a Pancakes for Parents breakfast so any parent can have breakfast with their baby at school. Daddy was unfortunately not able to make it, so I took Hannah by myself. I kept telling her "Mommy is going to school to eat breakfast with you, we are going to eat pancakes together" and she was so cute, like a parrot, everything I said, she repeated. She would get stuck on the word "pancake" and say it over and over again. After breakfast, I dropped her off in her classroom, hugged her tight, kissed her, told her to have a good day and waved bye bye, the usual. But this time Hannah walked to the door with the biggest smile on her face, held onto the door jam with an outstretched arm, peeked her head out the door and into the hallway, and said "bye bye Mommy, I love you, have a good day too." She then blew a kiss to me, waved then went back in. Are you kidding me??!! Melt my heart, so cute! I literally almost died! What a wonderful way to start my day!

Cute school story

When I picked up Hannah from school today, 1 of her afternoon teachers told me that Hannah really helped her out today. 3 other little toddlers from her class were banging on a door in the classroom while the teacher was trying to quiet them down. Her attempts wern't working when Hannah went over to each 1 of them and tapped them on their shoulder, put her finger over her mouth and said "shh" and some kind of baby talk the teacher couldn't understand and the other kids actually listened to her and stopped what they were doing. She said it was really sweet and very helpful.

Toddler Tales

Teacher's Note:
"During gym she bit another friend. Please talk to Hannah about not biting others. Other than that, she had a good day."

Whuuuut??? Ok, so we thought it was kinda stupid and absurd to talk to our ALMOST 2 year old about something that happened at 10:00 AM that morning but ok, if you say so. It went something like this.

Daddy: "Hannah, listen to mommy and daddy right now. We do not bite others. NO bite."

Mommy: "Hannah, NO bite, we love and hug our friends but NO bite."

Daddy: "We DO NOT bite our friends. Ok?"

Mommy: "Hannah, say "DO-NOT-BITE-FRIENDS."

Hannah, with no eye contact, looking down at her feet, and sitting on her chair, in her adorable baby talk babbled:
"Dun-no-by-fins." (kinda)

Daddy: "Good, now let's hug and kiss."

So we hug and kiss each other. The day after our talk.

Teacher's note:
"Hannah enjoyed the class project- community helper: The minister. She almost bit a friend today. Please encourage her not to bite."

Mommy's stipulations: How do you ALMOST bite a friend? Do these teachers have children? Do they know how hard it is to sit your ALMOST 2 year old and have a talking to about something that happened so long ago? In her defense, I was a biter so she had the genes to become a biter. This is not an excuse but more of an explanation, yea, that's it!

Almost 2 year old, almost biter, that's progress for us! 'Biting' to an 'almost biting' status is good for these parents.
