A little bit about our little ONE

Here are a few of our favorite things Hannah does at 1 years old:

You smile so sweet each morning when we open the blinds and let the sunlight hit your face.

You love to swim, kick your legs and splash in the water.

You are a very "chill baby", a term coined by your Aunt Candice that suits you perfectly.

You love to "pat back" whoever is holding and patting you.  A little chubby hand slapping your upper arm never felt so good.  Please do it all the time.

You love the theme song of "Backyardigans".  You waive your arms and smile at everyone to make sure they're enjoying it just like you.

You love to crawl under me while I'm in the kitchen.

You love to play chase, on your hands and knees.  "I'm gonna getchu!"

You love to be held.  You will crawl over to someone's ankles, pull yourself up with on their legs, look up longingly, they melt, then you get your way.  You've got us all figured out.

You love to crawl and can do it really fast.  You "speed crawl" by putting your head down so you can't see anything but the ground.  You have bumped into a few things using this technique but still remains your favorite.

You scrunch your nose up every now and then when you smile, Daddy says you got it from me.

You want to do it yourself.  You are an independent girl.  It's important to learn to accept help any time it's offered and when it's not, ask for it.  Don't ever be ashamed of that.

You love to jerk your head back to drink your bottle and sippy cup.  It's as if you're an experienced college student taking a shot.

You squeal every time you see your kitty cat Zoe.

You love to laugh, a big, long belly laugh.  It's the best sound in the world.

You have different kinds of laughs.  One of them is rolling.  Our little alto, such a low voice for a baby girl, rolls really softly.  You have to listen really hard or you'll miss it.

You love the uh-oh game.  You purposefully push things off just so you can say uh-oh.

You are starting to repeat words we say to you.

You can say "mama", "dada", "bob", "uh-oh".  You are starting to say diaper, poo poo, cat, bottle, and rock rock.

You are a very curious baby.  You love to explore things around the house and different kinds of foods.

You love when your Daddy comes home from work, you smile big.

You love to snuggle.  If we are sitting on the floor you crawl on our legs, up our stomachs to our chests, suck your thumb, and put your head on our chest.  Lift your head, stare in our eyes, then do it all over again.

You love to yell.  You are a loud baby, who wants to be heard.  We hear you baby girl.

You are as thrilling as the highest roller coaster we've ridden, you constantly fill our stomachs with that feeling of anticipation right before the edge when you hear the loud clicking.

You are as sweet as the sweetest Van Morrison song, as sweet as Tupelo honey, a rare treasure known for it's strength, subtlety, and sweetness, the flavor is impossible to describe.

You are as funny as the funniest Jim Carrey movie.

You are as fun as a favorite song playing and as freeing as dancing to it.

You are head strong, strong willed...keep it up young woman.

Each day gets better and better.

Here are a few of our favorite things we do as parents:

We love to watch you sleep.  We touch your hand, belly, chubby choppers, cheeks, and brush your hair from your forehead.  You sometimes open your eyes then quickly shut them to drift off to sleep again knowing it's just us and you are safe and sound.  We stand there, in awe of what a miracle you are, from the top of your head to the bottom of your toes.  What a blessing.  And we created you from love....that astounds me to think about it.

Daddy loves to throw you up in the air and swing you under his legs so you will let out one of those belly laughs.

Daddy also loves to hang you by your ankles off the back of the couch.  That also gets you laughing really hard.

We love to toss you around on the pillows on the couch, that makes you laugh hard too.

We begin to miss you if you've been napping for more than 2 hours.

We love to chase you on our hands and knees while you're crawling and squealing ahead of us.  We say "I'm gonna getcha!" and you crawl so fast to escape.

We love when you wake up in the morning.  We gather outside your door to throw it open, turn the knob back and forth, back and forth, gasp loudly, flip on the lights, and say "Good morning baby".  All to make you smile so we can see it and soak it in.

We love to make you laugh any way we can, even if we loose all dignity in doing it.

We love to have you walk back and forth to us, walking into our open arms, it's such a thrill.

We are so proud of what you can do in the first year of your life.

Just so you know...we know there may come a day when you may not want to love on us or even acknowledge we exist but know that to us, you will always be our baby.  No matter how old you get, you're always our baby.
